Mary listened carefully to both Marlene and Molly explain to where the Room of Requirement was. She wondered how did so many know of this place already before her? Beyond that, she couldn’t believe just how passionate everyone around her was getting about this plan of theirs. Their enthusiasm was inspiring, exhilarating, and provided a glimmer of hope the future. Maybe they couldn’t come out of this war unscratched, maybe they wouldn’t even come out of this war at all - but they weren’t going to go down without a fight.
She stood up and took the quill in her hand, hesitating only for a moment to think about this. After she signed her name she flopped back down into her seat with a small smile on her face. “So what now? When do we meet again?” she asked yawning.Marlene didn’t realized how late it had been by now. “We should really discuss when we’ll meet again. I’ll have to go soon, I can’t stay here all night.” She smiled at the others and also signed her name. “I’ll ask some Hufflepuffs if they’re interested, too. The more we are the more fun we’ll have.” Hopefully there’ll really be some other Hufflepuffs being prepared to practice for fighting against the Death Eaters because it felt strange being the only non-Gryffindor in such a group.
Lily smiled at Marlene. “Absolutely,” she said. “We need as many people as we can get.”
Her statement was true, though. If the rumours were anything to go by, there were twofold the number of people vying for spots in the ranks of the Dark Lord, and Lily wanted to do everything that they possibly could to help. They needed to stop this war, and she was going to do her part as best as she possibly could.
“It is late,” she acknowleged, looking around the room at tired faces. She wasn’t sleepy in the least, but Lily attributed that to the adrenaline rush she had initially gotten at the fact that there were people who didn’t want to go down without a fight, people who wanted to make a difference. “We would all do well to get to bed.”
Lily wasn’t sure as to when their next meeting would be held, but they had the list of names and that was all that was important. “We’ll keep you posted on our next meeting,” she said. “Word will be sent to you. Thank you all very much for coming.”
She heard the murmured goodbyes, and the sound of the portrait of the Fat Lady clicking shut as Marlene slipped out of the common room, and began to walk up the stairs to her dormitory. They were going to do more than not go down without a fight. They were going to win.
